This branch of the GAIGNERON family was established by Gabriel-Joseph (dit Joseph-Gabriel) de GAIGNERON MORIN (1738-1780). 

  

Biographical Note:

Garbiel-Joseph was lieutenant in the regiment of Bourgogne. He was born in Lamentin, Martinique  on May 18, 1738 was baptized on July 13, 1738. He was the son of Jean Baptiste GAIGNERON des RAVINIÈRES (1692), Sieur de Ravinières, and Françoise Rose de PAPIN de l’ÈPINE (1698-).

He was born in Lamentin on February 17, 1769 and married  on August 22, 1810 to Marie- Entrope Melanie de SARTRE ( 1785-?1872) and issued: Joseph-Louis-Ludovic

Biographical Note:

Marie Entrope Melanie de SARTRE, after the death of her husband in 1811, remarried  Jules Alexis, Viscount BREMOND d'ARS  in 1815. She was the daughter of Jacques-Honoré- Françoise de SARTRE, Seigneur de Vénérand (1748-1834) and Marie-Elizabeth Carré de SAINTE GEMME (1752-1805)

II. a Joseph-Louis- Ludovic de Gaigneron Morin ( 1811- 1877)

He married married Armande-Christine-Felicienne- (Félicité)-Thérèse de Sainte Marie d' Aigneaux and issued two children (Marie-Louis-Philippe-Maxime and Suzanne).

Armande-Christine-Felicienne- (Félicité)-Thérèse de Sainte Marie d'Aigneaux was the daughter of Philippe de Sainte-Marie-d'Aigneaux (1787-1857) and Henriette-Maxime-Félicité d'ESTAMPES (1799-1874). Henriette-Maxime-Félicité was the daughter of the Marquis d'ESTAMPES. There are two spellings to the last name: d'AIGNEAUX and d'AGNEAUX

Joseph-Louis de GAIGNERON MORIN, Viscount de Gaigneron Morin is typically only listed in several genealogies as "Joseph-Louis" however, we have found substantial evidence to indicated that "Joseph-Louis" was also named "Ludovic" and/or used that name.

I.  Ludovic de Gaigneron-Morin (1879-1954?):

Our research uncovered that perhaps  Ludovic was the author of several philosophical works such as "Vers la connaissance interdite" (1935)   and "Du méthaphysique au physique" (1958). His articles were also published in the  "Mercure de France" (1936).

It also appears that Ludovic was one of the first pioneers of French Cinema. There are several issues of the magazine "Cinéa" (1921) that make mention of him and a studio. Among the film scenarios attributed to Ludovic de Gaigneron, the film SYLVIA L'ENCHANTÉE 1929 (Source 12). Of course, the question remains if the philosophical author and movie pioneer are the same person.

In 1908, Ludovic de Gaigneron become engaged to Marie-Joseph de CUMONT. The couple issued one child (Jean-René de Gaigneron). On March 28, 1923, Marie-Joseph de CUMONT died.

She was the daughter of the Viscount de CUMONT, Auguste de CUMONT and Jeanne  Gilles de FONTENAILLES. Her sister was Marthe de CUMONT.

Jean-René has been confused many times with his uncle, Jean de Gaigneron, since both were painters and used the name of "Jean". However, there is conclusive evidence to support that they were two different people.

II. Marie-Joseph-Élie de Gaigneron Morin, Viscount de Gaigneron-Morin (1888-1939)

He  married Marthe-Virginie-Denise ASTIER (1902-1997) and issued (Philippe, Gilles, and Axelle)

Biographical Note:

Mathe, Viscountess de Gaigneron-Morin (Source 12)

Marthe-Virginie-Denise Astier was the daughter of Monsieur Placide Astier (1856-1918), former Senator of the French Third Republic for Department of Ardèche. The Astier family were small landowners and later entered the world of Pharmacy. The family invented "Kola-Astier" which had a certain recognition in Europe. Furthermore the Astier family were owners of the Le Château des Agneaux which today is the "Club d'Ozoir". See picture below  (Source 8 and 9). The Astier family remained in charge of  the Atier Laboratories until 1986 when the grandson of Placide Astier, Patrice Astier was compelled to sell the family business (Source 13)

 

III. Marie-Joseph-Paul-Jean de Gaigneron-Morin (1890-1976)

Biographical Note:

Our research has led us to conclude that the painter and art critic  known as Jean de GAIGNERON (dit Count Jean de Gaigneron) was related to the GAIGNERON MORIN branch of the GAIGNERON family. Born in Paris on February 22, 1890 and died in the same city on January 30, 1976 without posterity (Source 15).
