La Maison DeSalles (1645-1927)

  DesSalles

The Grand Blazon of the House of des Salles (Source 4)

 Origins

According to the study conducted by Henri de Frémont, the DeSalles family originates from Bretagne and moved to the French Antilles in the 17th century (Fremont, 5). In Martinique, the family established a veritable dynasty by marrying some of the most prominent families. Moreover, many family members were part of the Sovereign Council of Martinique (Conseil Souverain de Martinique).

In 1781, the DesSalles family were ennobled by the grace of His Most Christian Majesty, Louis XVI of France and Navarre (r. 1774-1792).
