The Founder of the GAIGNERON dynasty in France
Jean GAINGERON, Seigneur de la Grandière was born in the city of Loches in the former province of Touraine in 1405. The city is close to the city of Tours which was an ancient center for learning for France during the Middle Ages.He occupied the position of Lieutenant particulier and in 1454 he married Dorothée de LA TOUR and issued two children.

In about 1450, he was Captain at château de Loches for René of Anjou (1409 – 1480), duc d' Anjou, and Captain for Charles of Maine (1446–1481).
He married Marie Anne de MALVAUX and issued one child.
- Jacques GAIGNERON (1500-) married on August 31, 1533 Antoinette de CLOUX and issued (two children):
a. Barthélémy GAIGNERON (1539-1589), Seigneur des Roches, married Françoise PRUDHOMME de La PAPINIÈRE
b. Marie GAIGNERON ( ?) married Antoine de MAROLLES
[Note: Antoinette de CLOUX remarried in 1569 Jean de Marolles, the father of Antoine de Marolles. Antoine was the husband of Marie GAIGERON. This marriage is the first genealogical link between the de MAROLLES and GAIGNERON families.
Hughes GAIGNERON (1452), Seigneur de Launay
Married in 1495 to Marie de ROMANS and issued two children:- Jean GAIGNERON (+1577), Procureur du roi en l'élection de Loches, married Jeanne DARESTE and issued four children.
a. Yves GAIGNERON, Procureur du roi married November 24, 1569 , St-Ours, Loches to Antoinette de la CHESNAYE and issued.
b Jean GAIGNERON (1571-1665) married Jeanne de BEAUVAIS and issued.
b. Jacques, Seigneur de la Grandière married twice 1) Claude MOCQUET and 2) Antoinette PASTE and issued with both.
c. Renée married in 1593 to Abel de BRÉMOND d'ARS , Seigneur de Bossée (1568-1601) and issued.
